Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were notified by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.

A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
